Once logged in, add your car's VIN, a nickname, and a device password — a separate credential just for LeafSpy, not your account password.

Frequently asked questions

What's the dash-equivalent SOC estimate?

LeafSpy reports the battery controller's true SOC, which includes the reserve Nissan hides at the top and bottom of the pack — so it always reads a few points higher than the percentage on the car's own dashboard. The dash figure shown on the Status page is an estimate from a community-documented approximation (dash 100% ≈ 97% true, dash 0% ≈ 12% true, roughly linear in between), not Nissan's exact calibration. It's most reliable in the mid-range and less so near full/empty.

What's the difference between my account password and the device password?

Your account password logs you into this website. The device password is a separate credential you set when registering a vehicle — it's what LeafSpy itself sends with every ping. Keep them different: LeafSpy sends the device password as plain text in its request, so it shouldn't be reused from anywhere sensitive, including your account login.

Can I share my vehicle's status without giving out my login?

Yes — each vehicle has a read-only share link, found on the Status page under "Share this vehicle's location". Anyone with the link sees current status only (battery %, plug/charge state, location) and nothing else on this server — no login needed. "Regenerate link" immediately invalidates the old one if you've shared it somewhere you no longer want it working.

What happens to my data, and how do I delete it?

See the privacy policy for what's collected, how long it's kept, and who (if anyone) it's shared with. You can download everything stored under your account, or delete a trip/vehicle/your whole account, from Account settings.
